Bottle Tree Yard Art is a common sight to see in gardens here in the South. Given my love for colored glass, I am naturally drawn to the unique southern bottle tree. That’s not to say that bottle trees don’t have a presence in other regions of the country. Bottle Tree yard art seems to be sprouting up all over in recent years.

In addition to prominent placement, there are a lot of bottle tree ideas to choose from. Not only are different heights and shapes available for the choosing, but also some non-traditional choices as well. The bottletree bush is a great alternative if you are decorating an area where height isn’t an option. The bottletree bush is also very full, so it will hold a ton of bottles all while only taking up a small area. I have been toying with the idea of putting one in a large flower pot and placing it on my patio.

Bottle Tree Yard Art doesn’t have to be planted in the ground. You can hang it from a tree, fence post, or just about anywhere for a creative twist to display bottle tree art.
Hanging bottle tree art is a lot easier to move around as well. I love garden decor that is easily moved to a different location according to my mood (which often changes) as well as the season. Which doesn’t change quite as often as my moods, but does indeed change. 😉
Bottle Tree Yard Art Has An Interesting History
Bottle trees have a long and storied history going back as early as the 1700s in the Kongo of West Africa. It is said that Bottle trees were originally used to trap evil spirits inside the bottles at night. Then, in the morning the sunlight would kill the evil spirit. When slavery came to America, particularly in the South, so came bottle tree art.
